For Vester Jones, a retired state trooper from Jackson, Tennessee, life had become a daily struggle. Hip pain had plagued him for two years, forcing him to rely on a cane and bringing him to the brink of needing a walker. “I was in so much pain and everyone kept telling me no,” Vester recalls. “I couldn’t see the light.”
Everything changed when a friend mentioned Southern Joint Replacement Institute (SJRI). He decided to give SJRI a call. The difference was immediate. His first call was to Tracy Huff, who scheduled his very first appointment. “She was awesome and extremely personable,” Vester says. “Because of the extreme pain I was in, she worked me in within a week. From the moment Vester arrived at SJRI at TriStar Centennial Medical Center, he felt a sense of relief and reassurance. “It starts with valet parking and someone greeting you and escorting you to the clinic,” he says. “The atmosphere is so inviting. Everyone treats you like you’re the most important patient. I’ve never waited more than 10 minutes. Dr. Otto is always in the room before the nurse leaves.”
SJRI scheduled his surgery right away. At 6 a.m. on the day of his procedure, Vester and his wife were met by a friendly, reassuring team. By 5 p.m., he was back home in his recliner in Jackson. The results were astonishing. “When I woke up from surgery, I never felt pain again,” Vester says. “I didn’t even need pain medicine. A nurse asked me to slow down because I was walking too fast!” On the drive home, he even walked around a truck stop–his wife was stunned.
Shortly after surgery, Vester experienced a very minor issue and called the office. “Within nine minutes, I got a call back from the nurse,” he says. “She spoke with the doctor, and I received another call 28 minutes later from the doctor.”
Recovery was swift. Vester was back at work within a month and back in uniform in two months. Physical therapy was minimal–just one day a week for about a month. “I thought I’d need so much more,” he says. “SJRI gave me back my life.”
