Visitor policy

TriStar COVID Visitation: Effective 01-18-2023

TriStar Health is committed to the health and safety of our patients, families and community. We recognize the role loved ones play in the healing process and are committed to providing our patients with an environment that is both warm and supportive, designed to safely reduce the transmission of COVID-19.

Virtual and spatially distanced visits should remain a viable option:

  • Make devices available for ‘Virtual’ visits
  • If visiting in person, encourage social distancing
  • PPE compliance is required

Visitor policy allowances:

  • Children <12 years old will not be permitted except under extraordinary circumstances.
  • Confirmed or suspected COVID-19 patients in inpatient and ICU settings may have up to 2 visitors in a day, with one permitted at the bedside at a time.
  • End of life patients may have >2 visitors at the bedside at a time; visitors may switch out throughout the day for as long as the clinical team deems it safe and feasible.

Visitor policy restrictions:

  • Visitors with signs or symptoms of acute illness (fever, cough, difficulty breathing, sudden loss of taste and/or smell, sore throat, body aches, diarrhea or vomiting); or
  • Positive test for COVID-19 within last 5 days (this may vary based on current variant)
  • Visitors not willing to comply with the masking policy

Expectations for visitors:

  • Wellness attestation upon building/department entry
  • Acknowledge that although we are taking measures to keep you safe, we are not responsible for exposures. Visiting in these rooms is not without risk.
  • Masks are required for the duration of the visit.
  • Upon room entry, visitors must wear additional Personal Protective Equipment – hospital supplied mask is required (may wear cloth mask under the hospital mask) and spatial distancing encouraged.
  • Do not visit other patients while in the facility.
  • Notify the care team upon arrival to and from the unit.
  • Additional items should not be brought into the facility, consider bagging phone if needed. All items should be cleaned upon exiting the patient room.
  • Leave the room during aerosol-generating procedures (AGP) or per staff request.
  • If continuous AGP in process, encourage spatial distancing in room (i.e. move to other side of room), view from window outside room, and/or keep visit at bedside briefer (e.g. <15 minutes).
  • Perform hand hygiene upon entry/exit of the building and when entering/leaving patient room.
  • Notify the clinical care team if signs or symptoms of illness develop during your visit
  • Adhere to facility visiting hours.

Circumstances may allow for specific exceptions to any visitation restrictions described on this webpage. Those circumstances include religious visitation as well as a designated support person for a patient with a disability to provide assistance with communication or other necessary components of the patient's treatment. All persons entering under an exception remain subject to appropriate infection control protocols.
