Tristar Stonecrest medical center welcomes new assistant chief medical officer

TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center has named a new leader to help guide itsclinical excellence and commitment to patient care. With a strong background in neurosurgery and healthcare leadership, Dr. David S. Geckle joins the executive team as assistant chief medical officer.

Smyrna, Tenn. — TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center is pleased to announce David S. Geckle, MD, FACS, as its new assistant chief medical officer, effective June 29. Dr. Geckle brings nearly 30 years of clinical and physician leadership experience within HCA Healthcare to the role.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Geckle to our leadership team,” said Lou Caputo, chief executive officer at TriStar StoneCrest. “With a deep commitment to clinical excellence, Dr. Geckle’s leadership supports TriStar StoneCrest’s dedication to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to the Rutherford County community.”

Dr. Geckle most recently served as a neurosurgeon at Chippenham Hospital and Johnston-Willis Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, in Richmond, Virginia. In addition to his surgical practice, he led initiatives in quality improvement, patient safety, risk management and medical staff services.

Board-certified in neurological surgery, Dr. Geckle has held several key leadership roles throughout his career, including chief of medical staff, chair of the Credentials Committee and Medical Care Evaluation Committee, and member of the Medical Executive Committee and Board of Trustees. 

Dr. Geckle earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Loyola College in Baltimore and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed his neurosurgical residency at Case Western Reserve University.
