TriStar Horizon Medical Center recently celebrated 65 years of care and commitment to Dickson and the surrounding communities. The hospital’s beginning dates back to when the Jackson brothers opened their first clinic on main street in downtown Dickson. In 1958, the Jacksons built Goodlark Hospital. To commemorate the event, hospital leaders hosted a celebration, including family members of the Jackson brothers, executives from the TriStar Health Division, community leaders, and TriStar Horizon Medical Center colleagues, physicians, volunteers and members of the Board of Trustees.

The 65-year anniversary ceremony was held on Thursday, November 16, in the hospital’s West Lobby, and was followed by tours of the new Intensive Care Unit currently under construction. The event program included remarks from Cindy Bergmeier, TriStar Horizon’s chief executive officer.

“TriStar Horizon has touched countless lives in its 65 year history, and our commitment to caring for Dickson and surrounding communities is stronger than ever,” said Bergmeier. “I’d like to extend my gratitude to members of the Jackson Family, former CEOs, members of our Board of Trustees, local dignitaries and the community for their continued support over the years. Most importantly, I’d like to recognize our committed colleagues and providers for showing up every single day for our patients and each other. You have all made significant contributions to who we are today.”

Jennifer Law, nurse practitioner on TriStar Horizon’s medical staff and the granddaughter of the late Dr. William Jackson, reflected of the hospital’s 65 years of caring. She shared memories of visiting the hospital as a young girl with her grandfather and the significant impact that had on her journey to pursue a career as a healthcare provider in the field of cardiology.

Tennessee State Representative Mary Littleton and City of Dickson Vice Mayor Jason Epley each presented Bergmeier with a proclamation on behalf of the State of Tennessee and City of Dickson.

“The story of TriStar Horizon Medical Center will continue to be written, and the care that has been and will continue to be provided will be felt by many for years to come,” said Bergmeier. “At our core, we remain small enough to care and large enough to heal.”

TriStar Horizon commemorated the special occasion with a video titled, “A History of Caring Like Family.” To watch, visit TriStar Horizon.
