TriStar Health collects more than 1,100 pounds of medication during "Crush the Crisis"

TriStar Health collected over 1,100 pounds of unused and expired medications during its annual "Crush the Crisis" drug take-back events on Oct. 25, aligning with the DEA's National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

TriStar Health facilities across Middle Tennessee collected more than 1,100 pounds of unused and expired medications during the annual “Crush the Crisis” prescription drug take-back events held on Saturday, October 25. The initiative coincided with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, aimed at reducing the risk of medication misuse and promoting safe disposal.

“We are proud of our communities for showing up and taking action,” said Dr. Ajit Singh, chief medical officer at TriStar Health. “By safely disposing of more than 1,100 pounds of medication, we’re helping prevent potential misuse and making a meaningful impact on public health across Middle Tennessee.”

Among the participating facilities, TriStar Horizon Medical Center in Dickson led the effort, collecting 420 pounds of medication. TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield, followed with 98 pounds collected.
