Side by side in the ER: A mother-daughter team making a difference.

It’s not every day you have the chance to go to work with your mom.

Meet this amazing mother–daughter duo who are caring for our community side by side in our emergency room.

Whitney began her Horizon journey as a nurse extern in the summer of 2024; just one year later, she earned her degree and joined Horizon full time.

A senior in high school, Lilly participates in Dickson County’s CTE healthcare pathway. She is completing a clinical rotation at TriStar Horizon — working in the ER right alongside her mother.

Lilly loves working with her mom and gaining real‑life experience. It has only strengthened her desire to pursue a career in healthcare after graduation, with a long‑term goal of becoming a nurse practitioner. Drawn to the fast‑paced environment of the emergency room, she plans to join Horizon as a PCT this summer.

Whitney is thrilled to work beside her daughter and teach her the skills she’ll need in nursing. She credits her Horizon family for embracing Lilly and making this experience meaningful and supportive.
