First pulmonary thrombectomy is completed at TriStar Hendersonville
TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center is proud to announce the successful completion of its first pulmonary thrombectomy, a life-saving procedure that removes dangerous blood clots from the lungs to restore blood flow.
The procedure was performed by Dr. Dominic Brink, interventional cardiologist with Tennessee Heart and Vascular, in collaboration with the hospital’s skilled cardiac catheterization lab team. This milestone was made possible through TriStar Hendersonville’s recent investment in advanced equipment and specialized colleague training.
“This achievement reflects our ongoing commitment to expanding innovative treatment options closer to home for Sumner County,” said Justin Coury, chief executive officer of TriStar Hendersonville. “We are always looking for ways to improve care for our patients. By investing in the latest technology and ensuring our teams are trained to deliver advanced procedures, we are putting patients first and raising the standard of care in our community.”
Pulmonary thrombectomy is a minimally invasive option for patients suffering from pulmonary embolism, a condition caused by blood clots in the lungs that can be fatal if untreated. By adding this capability, TriStar Hendersonville can now provide patients with advanced, timely interventions for patients in Sumner County.
