Bruce Mitchell announced as assistant chief nursing officer TriStar Skyline Medical Center

Mitchell second ACNO to join TriStar Skyline and will focus on the emergency department.

TriStar Skyline Medical Center is pleased to announce Bruce Mitchell as assistant chief nursing officer. In his role, Mitchell will focus on elevating nursing strategy within the emergency department, including patient experience and quality initiatives.

“Bruce’s experience and depth of knowledge will be an asset to the nursing leadership team at TriStar Skyline,” said Amy Higgins, chief nursing officer at TriStar Skyline. “We are excited to have Bruce’s skill set to focus on enhancing the care we provide to our patients in our emergency department every day.”

Mitchell brings a wide-range of nursing experience to his role, especially in emergency nursing. In addition to working in intensive care units, Mitchell also has experience as a full-time flight nurse and paramedic. He was the director of emergency services for the only level 1 trauma center in west Texas, and he held the same role at HCA Florida JFK Hospital.

Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Mitchell obtained his associate’s degree from the Southern Institute of Applied Science and Technology in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. He also has an associate’s degree in paramedicine from South Plains College, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Texas A&M, a master’s degree from Lubbock Christian University and a doctorate in nursing practice from Texas Tech University.
