Diagnosing orthopedic disorders and injuries
Our orthopedic doctors use advanced tools and technologies to refine your diagnosis and create a treatment plan tailored to your needs. A diagnosis typically starts with a physical exam, which includes testing your back, joints and limbs for strength, flexibility, sensation and reflexes.
After a physical exam, your physician may use diagnostic imaging procedures, such as ultrasounds, X-rays, computerized tomography (CT) scans and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans, to take a deeper look at what is causing your pain or injury. To better diagnose or understand your condition, we also offer arthroscopy, bone density testing and electromyograms (EMGs).
Joint care
From Dickson to Bowling Green, TriStar Health offers nine locations for joint care and joint replacement surgery across Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky. Our sites of care provide a wide range of treatment methods, prioritizing nonsurgical approaches such as medication and physical therapy as much as possible. If conservative methods don't work, joint replacement surgery may be recommended.
If surgery is needed, your treatment plan will include pre-surgical education classes to help you better prepare for your procedure, as well as a dedicated nurse navigator who will help guide you throughout your journey. We specialize in various types of total and partial joint replacement surgeries, including:
Orthopedic surgery
Surgical procedures may be required for some conditions, such as non-healing bone fractures, trauma injuries and hand and wrist injuries.
As part of our commitment to patient safety and staying at the forefront of technology, we perform minimally invasive procedures, including arthroscopy and advanced robot-assisted surgery, whenever possible.
Pediatric orthopedic care
We offer pediatric orthopedic care at TriStar Centennial Children's Hospital. Our pediatric teams are skilled in caring for children with common orthopedic injuries such as fractures and sprains, as well as more complex conditions such as bone and joint deformities, neuromuscular disorders and bone cancer.
Physical therapy and rehabilitation
We provide orthopedic physical therapy and rehabilitation programs at nine of our TriStar Health locations. These programs help you reach your goals after orthopedic surgery. They also help manage pain and treat injuries or conditions that do not require surgery. Either way, we tailor rehabilitation to your unique needs, ensuring our inpatient and outpatient physical therapy and rehabilitation services help you regain maximum mobility and return to an active lifestyle.
Spine care
If you are experiencing back and neck pain caused by disk injury, arthritis, spinal tumors, scoliosis or other spinal conditions, we provide advanced spine care at seven of our locations. Our spine doctors provide a range of services, including nonsurgical and minimally invasive treatments. If surgery is needed, our specialists have extensive training and years of experience in performing complex surgeries.
Sports medicine
We are dedicated to helping both athletes and non-athletes alike find relief from sports-related injuries. From injury assessment to physical therapy and minimally invasive surgery, we provide a range of services to help you get back to your A game.
