Clarksville veteran brings army values to healthcare IT leadership at HCA Healthcare
After 20 years in the military, George Garcia brought his dedication to service and leadership into civilian life. Now an IT senior project manager at HCA Healthcare supporting Parallon, he applies the discipline and values he learned in the Army to his work in healthcare.
George’s military path was shaped by key moments, including his decision to reclassify after seeing the impact of Fire Support Specialists in combat. Inspired by a courageous leader under fire, he learned to lead with integrity, loyalty and respect–principles that still guide him today.
The Garcia's made Clarksville their home in 2016 during a Fort Campbell assignment. After retiring in 2023, George and his family chose to stay, drawn by the strong military presence and sense of belonging. He remains active in the community through veteran hiring events, mentorship and support programs.
Transitioning to healthcare wasn’t easy, but George relied on his problem-solving mindset and support from fellow veterans. Drawn to HCA Healthcare’s mission-driven culture, like the military, he found purpose and belonging. “I rely daily on the resilience I built in uniform,” he says, especially managing timelines or leading projects.
Although Clarksville doesn’t yet have an HCA Healthcare facility, George and his family experienced its compassionate care at TriStar Centennial Women’s Hospital in Nashville during a difficult time in his wife’s pregnancy. The professionalism and empathy they received left a lasting impression. “That experience showed us how HCA Healthcare’s commitment to patient-centered care truly makes a difference,” he says.
With plans to expand TriStar Health’s presence in Clarksville, George sees a chance to improve healthcare access for local families, especially veterans. “It’s more than just healthcare; it’s a commitment to honoring and caring for those who have served,” he says. As Clarksville grows, he believes HCA Healthcare will play a key role in building a healthier, more connected future.
