Sometimes, people enter our lives at just the right moment and the impact lasts forever.
Recently in TriStar Horizon's Same Day Surgery department, nurse Jeannie had a full-circle moment — caring for her 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Chappell.
What makes this reunion so meaningful is the journey behind it. Jeannie moved to Dickson from Korea as she was entering 3rd grade, speaking limited English. Her father, a Dickson native, met her mother while stationed overseas and eventually brought their family back to his hometown. It was then that Jeannie walked into Mrs. Chappell’s classroom.
Mrs. Chappell remembers her as bright and determined — learning English and reading on grade level within a single year.
But what stayed with Jeannie wasn’t just what she learned, it was how Mrs. Chappell made her feel. The encouragement and care she received during a time of uncertainty left a lasting impression and helped shape her path.
Stories like this remind us that healthcare is more than medicine — it's connection, compassion, and community.
Thank you, Mrs. Chappell, for the lives you’ve shaped.
Thank you, Jeannie, for living our mission through the care you provide every day. We are so happy you are part of the Horizon family!
