Smyrna, Tenn. — TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center has earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade for the fifth consecutive time by The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. This designates TriStar StoneCrest as a “Straight A” facility, defined as hospitals that have maintained an “A” grade for at least five consecutive grading cycles. Fewer than 12.7% of hospitals nationwide hold his distinction.

“Every patient who walks through our doors deserves the safest care possible,” said Lou Caputo, chief executive officer at TriStar StoneCrest. “This recognition affirms the dedication of our caregivers, clinicians and support teams who work tirelessly to protect our patients. Our mission — Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life — guides every decision we make, and this honor reflects that commitment.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 30 national performance measures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Leapfrog Hospital Survey and information from other supplemental data sources. Those measures produce a single letter grade twice a year representing a hospital’s overall performance in keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors.
